Dear Escuela Canyon Meadows Families,

January and February have certainly gone by fast; we are now excited and eager to welcome spring, “la primavera” in March! Please, see below our January, February and March updates and information to stay involved.

Open House

On Thursday, January 9, we successfully hosted our Spanish Bilingual Program Open House welcoming around 70 families. We thank our community for sharing with family and friends about our program and welcoming school, and inviting them to attend.

Kindergarten registration for 2026-27 is ongoing. The registration pages on the CBE corporate website provide details regarding an accessible and streamlined registration process. CBE has also launched new and revised help pages for MyCBE. The help pages can answer frequently asked questions and help parents/guardians navigate through the platforms more efficiently.

Additionally, the Kindergarten Registration Guide is a valuable resource to help parents/guardians prepare for registration.

In-line Skating and Lacrosse

Throughout the month of February our K to 3 students enjoyed the in-line skating residency and Grades 4 and 5 will engage in the lacrosse residency in March. We are grateful for the support of our School Council to reduce the cost our families pay for these activities.

Acts of Kindness – Acciones del corazón

Our students continue to engage in acts of kindness such as sharing validating comments with peers and staff. Some of these comments are displayed on our Learning Commons bulletin board! Ensure to check it out during the upcoming March Student Learning Conferences and Book Fair.

Pink Shirt Day – February 25, 2026 – Día de usar camiseta rosada

Our students and staff wore their pink shirt to school on February 25 to promote kindness and inclusion. At our Escuela Canyon Meadows everyone fits in and is loved. Our students and teachers engaged in an assembly to share and enjoy messages of kindness.

25 Anniversary of the CBE Spanish Bilingual Program

This school year marks an important milestone: The 25 Anniversary of the CBE Spanish Bilingual Program! During the month of February our teachers engaged students in activities to honour and celebrate this achievement. For example, students engaged in the creation of bulletin boards filled with their favourite Spanish words and phrases and a Spanish poster contest. During the Pink Shirt Day assembly on February 25, our Spanish Language and Culture teacher committee announced the winners of the poster contest. Students quite enjoyed this activity; there were awarded students in every grade in alignment with all categories included in the rubric. Our students demonstrated their implicit Spanish Language skills; the posters showcase specific Spanish vocabulary and structures connected to areas such as survival and content-related language. The posters are displayed around the school. Our parent volunteers will create a display with the posters and favourite words and phrases to enjoy during “Fiesta”.
